General Information

Spinnaker, LLC, founded in 1998, is a Web development and hosting firm headquartered in Topeka, Kansas. Spinnaker incorporates a variety of technologies to meet its clients’ organizational goals and specializes in custom Web development, content management, database integration and hosting. Spinnaker’s founders have been doing Web design since HTML 2 was the standard and hand coding Web sites was the only option.

Background of the Name

Spinnaker is a nautical term for a type of sail. According to the Second College Edition of the American Heritage Dictionary, a spinnaker is “a large triangular sail set on a spar that swings out opposite the main sail, used on racing yachts when running before the wind.”

One of Spinnaker’s founders raced sailboats for years. We thought the name was an appropriate metaphor for how we help our clients. Similar to a spinnaker in a tail wind, we harness the power of simple, targeted communication to pull your business ahead and do this through the variety of design, consulting and hosting services we offer.
